Add Award Winning Blogger to my Resume

I won, I won, I won…..My blog won Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation’s Spirit of Hope Award, well I came in second but who cares. I am 42 years old and have never gotten an award before. When my older daughter won her first trophy for ballet she slept with it, I think I will do the same with mine.

You want to know the best part? Bonnie Addario herself, presented me with the award at the Foundation’s annual Lung Cancer walk. Those of you who have read my Unsung Heroes blog know Bonnie is on top of the list. Not only Bonnie survived Lung Cancer, she left her job as the president of a major corporation to start the Foundation. She became the voice for world’s number one cancer when most people thought the patients deserved the disease.

Ok now back to me getting an award. I had no idea I was getting it since Bonnie wanted to keep it a surprise. I really wish that someone had told me though, since for the first time in my life I had nothing to say. Bonnie of course wouldn’t have it so I stumbled and fumbled over my words with NBC documenting me make an ass out of myself. If I had a chance to do it over again, this is what I would say:

Thank you Bonnie, thank you Danielle, thank you Andrea, thank you Gianna, thank you Debi, thank you Scott, and thank you all who work for the Foundation. You get up every day with one goal, to help patients and help fund research. People like you gave me the inspiration and power to start this blog. I would also like to share this award with my fellow bloggers Lisa & Tori who have set the bar very high for me.
